Red Centre 2020
Are you ready for the experience, the challenge, the adventure and thrill of riding from the Red Centre of Outback Australia to the centre of cosmopolitan Adelaide? 1700 kilometres of cycling elation and satisfaction!
Our ride starts in Alice Springs – known as the RED CENTRE of Outback Australia, from where we head south through some incredible desert and arid landscape, but always amazing and eye-opening, with overnight stops at the various Roadhouses along the way. The Roadhouses are interesting in themselves with a certain intrigue, an experience not to be missed.
We have a Rest Day at the opal mining town of Coober Pedy with its numerous mounds of diggings for kilometres around the town and a uniqueness that sets the town apart.
From there we continue south to Port Augusta, then up and over the Southern Flinders Ranges via Horrock’s Pass to Wilmington. From here we leave the arid country behind and start riding through some of SA’s scenic Pastoral country. We pass through Melrose, a favourite of the MTB riders, and then onto Laura, a very quaint small town. Next day we continue to Clare and the beautiful Clare Valley and all its vineyards. On this day we ride through Spalding, Gulnare and Burra, all small but very interesting farming areas.
Still riding through top farming country we pass through Marrabel, Kapunda and Nuriootpa on our way to Tanunda in the middle of the Barossa Valley. And whilst the next day is our last day, it traverses through some fantastic riding country. We ride through Angaston, Eden Valley, Mount Pleasant, Chain of Ponds and finish for the Grand Finale with lunch at Tea Tree Gully.
